The Gunpowder Plot in Year 2
As a start to our first history topic in year 2 we had a bonfire in the school garden and made a sparkler in class. We will be learning all about The Gunpowder Plot over this half term, I am sure you will hear all about it.
Smoothies in Year 2 Blessed
After all of our chopping, peeling and safety learning we finally got to make a smoothie. We designed it ourselves, choosing the ingredients we thought we would like. Then we worked in small groups to make it. We didn’t all like it and have ideas of how to make it better next…
Year 2 church visit
Mrs Finch gave us a guided tour of the church recently. We looked at the parts we don’t normally get to see. It was a really interesting tour and we helped increase our knowledge of our local church.
We are learning new knife skills
The children had to be very focused for today’s DT task. We are learning how to use the claw and bridge grips to help us to chop food safely.
Year 2 Blessed’s trip to the park
What a lovely park walk! Year 2 Blessed followed all our school rules and enjoyed their visit to the park. We will be writing all about it soon in English.
Compass Work Year 2 Blessed
Year 2 Blessed have been identifying compass directions in the playground today. We drew what we could see to the North, South, East and West.
Our trip to Moor Park
We had our first trip in Year 2 and we went to Moor Park to observe its features so we can write more confidently about it when we return to school.
DT Skills
We have been busy learning skills in design and technology. We have been peeling, chopping, grating and even removing stones from fruit. We will be designing our smoothie next week and making it the week after!
Music Year 2 Blessed
Today Year 2 Blessed worked really hard in the music lesson. We worked on our timing to try and play the glockenspiel at the right time. We all had great fun and everyone tried hard!
Geography
We have been learning about continents in Year 2. This week we made a messy map. The children had great fun making continents and oceans and some even attempted the world! We have learnt a song to help us remember the continent names - ask us to sing it for you!
Church visit Year 2 Blessed
Year 2 Blessed visited church this week. They showed wonderful behaviour and asked very interesting questions about the church and the things within it. Why not ask about what they saw?
Gymnastics
In gymnastics this half term Year 2 will be focusing on jumping in a range of ways safely. This week we were practising a tuck jump.
